James Schaefer is a New York City-based architect who specializes in custom renovations of townhouses and apartments, including historic district residences and high-end apartments in prominent Manhattan buildings. James founded his architecture firm after developing his design skills at Ned Forrest Architects in Sonoma, California and John B. Murray Architect in New York. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, James started his professional life as a session musician and recording engineer, producing music and soundtracks of rock, jazz, salsa, classical and spoken word. Today, he lives with his family in a renovated Victorian townhouse in Brooklyn and still enjoys playing drums.
